Green tea is an excellent source of antioxidants, and there’s evidence to suggest that it can aid in weight loss endeavors, help prevent cancer, and improve brain function.  And those are just a handful of the great things about it. However, none of that matters if you aren’t accustomed to drinking it. That’s where these green tea recipes can help you. On this list, you’ll find cookies, chocolate, noodles, and more — all packed with green tea/matcha.

1. Iced Green Tea with Mint and Honey

If you don’t like green tea because it isn’t sweet enough for you, try this recipe, which will have you add honey, mint, and a few lemon slices to the drink.  It’s only lightly sweet, but that’s enough to make it enjoyable – or at least tolerable – for most people. The mint also adds a lovely freshness, making it the ideal drink for an afternoon brunch.

2. Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream

Although there are four different ways to make this deliciously earthy, slightly sweet matcha green tea ice cream, the easiest one uses only four ingredients and takes very little time. All you’ll need is half and half, matcha, sugar, and sea salt for that one. It’s creamy, refreshing, and super tasty.  Adults will love it because it tastes good and is at least moderately healthy, and kids will love it because of its fun green color.

3. Spicy Green Tea Noodles

If you’re looking for a more savory option, try these spicy green tea noodles instead. They’re a hot, herby option that’ll help bring a little Asian flair into your dining room.  The noodles themselves are mild. Most of the flavor comes from the scallions and the fantastically yummy spicy sesame sauce. If you love earthy, umami flavors, add more scallions as a garnish. Also, remember, if you’re using freshly brewed green tea, the longer you let it steep, the stronger the flavor will be.

4. Starbucks Pink Drink

Do you like strawberries? Cold, creamy drinks? The color pink? If so, Starbucks’ Pink Drink is the drink for you, and you can make it at home and save yourself some cash.  All you’ll need are strawberries, berry green tea bags, hot water, chilled coconut milk, ice, and fresh sliced strawberries.  This copycat recipe is one of my all-time favorites for Starbucks drinks because it comes out precisely like the real thing – taste, texture, and all.  And if you’ve never had it and are wondering if you’d like it, the answer is probably yes — as long as you like fruity, milky drinks, that is.

5. Matcha Green Tea Cookies

These cookies are supremely buttery, and despite their smooth, soft-looking appearance, they’re also highly crunchy. Of course, it goes without saying that they’re also delicious. It takes only 35 minutes to make a batch of 24, but you’ll need to let the dough chill in the fridge for a couple of hours before you bake them, so plan for that accordingly.  And if you’re concerned they won’t be sweet enough, don’t worry; the white chocolate chips take care of that. These are always a treat, but I especially love to make them for St. Paddy’s Day!

6. Iced Green Tea Latte

This recipe is another Starbucks copycat recipe. It doesn’t turn out as much like the original as the Pink Drink recipe, but it’s close enough. All you’ll need to make it is milk, matcha powder, water, honey, and vanilla extract, and it takes only 2 or 3 minutes to whip up.  It’s sweet, creamy, and gives you a nice little caffeine boost, as well.

7. Matcha Green Tea Smoothie

This smoothie recipe is one of my favorites! It has a somewhat tropical taste thanks to the bananas, mango, and coconut milk, but matcha and baby spinach tone that down a little while still leaving it sweet and tasty. If you’re looking for a nutritious breakfast that will also give you a pick-me-up, this smoothie is just the ticket.

8. Green Tea Chocolate

Green chocolate may sound even less appetizing than green eggs and ham, but I assure you it’s anything but unappetizing.  You’ll make it from 14 ounces of decadent white chocolate, heavy whipping cream, unsalted butter, and some matcha.  All the matcha really does is turn the chocolate an interesting green color. It doesn’t really affect the taste that much. So, you’re left with a gorgeous green treat that feels like a truffle, looks like a green fudge square, and tastes like heaven.

9. Green Tea Oatmeal

Even without the additional toppings – which you can tailor to suit your tastes – this thick, creamy oatmeal is unbelievably filling. It’s that stick-to-your-ribs scrumptious that keeps you full all day. It’s also incredibly easy to make and takes less than 15 minutes, so it’s ideal for those busy mornings when you don’t have time to do much cooking. All you’ll need is water, a green tea bag, milk, old-fashioned oats, ground flaxseed meal, honey, and vanilla extract.  By itself, the oatmeal has a lightly sweet, almost floral-like taste, but once you pile it high with your favorite toppings, that’s where you’ll get most of your flavor.

10. Strawberry Basil Iced Tea

And last but not least, here’s another way to enjoy green tea that doesn’t taste much like green tea. It takes only 15 minutes to make, but it tastes better after giving it 4 hours to chill.  You’ll add fresh strawberries, sugar, and fresh basil to your green tea base.  The sugar sweetens the tea, the strawberries add a delightful fruitiness, and the basil enhances its already fresh flavor, making it cool, invigorating, and perfect for summer.
